Damain and Range Polynomials

Vocab
*Domain-the interval of X values where the graph exits
*Range-the interval of Y values where the graph exits
*Zeros-intercpet , root-set=0, solve for X
*Vertical line test-drawing vertcial (up and down) lines through a graph. If part of a vertical line touches any part of the graph it fails the test.

*To be a function the graph must pass the vertical line test.
*If given points the domain is the the list of all Xvalues and range is a list of all Yvalues. Must be put in in {brackets}
*For polynomials:
X=straight line
X^2=U
X^3=line with two curves
Domain- (-oo, oo) always
Range-(-oo,00) always except for X^2
Range-X^2 =(-b/2a , oo) or (-oo, -b/2a)

*If just given two points, swith around. EX (2,3) = (3,2)

Ex1. Determine if function.
a.5x^3+5 b.3x-3
Yes. Graph is Yes. Graph is
line with two curves. a single line. Passes
Passes test test.

Ex2. Find domain and range of 3x^2+x^2-5x+6
Domain:(-oo , oo) Range:(-oo , oo)
Always is Always is except for X^2
