Theta is an angle that is formed by rotating from an initial ray to a terminal ray. Angles can be measured in degrees and radian measure. Pi=180 degrees and 2pi=360 degrees. You can change from radian measure to degrees by multiplying by (180/pi) and you can change from degrees to radian measure by multiplying by (pi/180)
Convert 172degrees to radian measure:
172(pi/180)= (43/45)pi
Convert (2pi/3) to degrees:
(2pi/3)(180/pi)=120 degrees
Coterminal angles are angles that share the same terminal ray. You can make coterminal angles by adding 360 degrees or subtracting 360 degrees if the given angle is in degrees.
Find two coterminal angles for 134 degrees:
134 + 360 = 494 degrees and 134 - 360 = -226 degrees
494 degrees and -226 degrees are coterminal angles to 134 degrees
You can also find coterminal angles if the angle is in radians by adding 2pi or subtracting 2pi.
Find two coterminal angles for pi:
Pi + 2pi= 3pi and pi-2pi=-pi
3pi and -pi are coterminal angles to pi.
