9-1!

This week in class we learned about SOHCAHTOA!

-This means sin x = opp/hyp, cos x = adj/hyp, and tan x = opp/adj.

-Only used on right triangles

-You can’t use 90 degree

- angle of elevation is like this <

- angle of depression is like this ^

Example 1.) In triangle ABC, angle A = 90 degrees, angle B = 25 degrees, a = 18. Find b and c.

To find b you would plug into your formula for sin because b is opposite of 25 and they give you a, which is the hypotenuse.

So, sin 25 degrees = b/18

You would multiply each side by 18 and get b is about 7.607

To find c you would plug into your formula for cos because c is adjacent of 25 and they give you a, which is the hypotenuse.

So, cos 25 degrees = c/18

You would multiply each side by 18 and get c is about 16.314.

b= 7.607 and c= 16.314
