SOHCAHTOA!

SOHCAHTOA is an acronym for the trig functions: sin, cos, and tan.

~sinx=opposite/hypotenuse
~cosx=adjacent/hypotenuse
~tanx=opposite/adjacent

SOHCAHTOA is only used on right triangles(triangles with a 90 degree angle)

When finding the angles and sides, you cannot use the 90 degree angle.

~The angle of elevation is from the ground up.
~The angle of depression is from the highest point to the ground.
____________________________________________________________

Ex.1: In a right triangle angle C=90 degrees, angle A=25 degrees, side a=10in
~Find sides c and b; angle B:
~tanx=opp/adj : tan25=10/b

~btan25=10
~b=21.445

~sinx=opp/hyp : sin25=10/c

~csin25=10
~c=23.662

~180-90-25= 65
~B=65

Ex.2: In a right triangle angle A=90 degrees, angle B=43 degrees, and side a=6
~Find sides b and c; and angle C:
~cosx=adj/hyp : cos43=c/6

~6cos43=c
~c=4.388

~sinx=opp/hyp : sin43=b/6

~6sin43=b
~b=4.092

~180-90-43=47
~C=47
