Sohcahtoa

Sohcahtoa stands for sinӨ= opp./hyp cosӨ=adj/hyp tanӨ=opp./adj
These are only used for right triangles. You can’t use the 90° angle.

Ex. 1. In triangle ABC, angle A=90°, angle B=25°, and a=18. Find b and c.

Sin 25°=b/18 cos25°=c/18
b= 18sin25°= 7.607 c= 18cos25°= 16.314

2. . In triangle PQR, angle P=90°, angle Q=64°, and p=27. Find q and r.

Sin 64°= q/27 cos 64°=r/27
q= 27sin64°= 24.267 r= 18cos64°= 7.891
